What is CRP?
CRP
C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute-phase protein measured in blood as a biomarker of inflammation and studied as a potential causal factor in cardiovascular disease. The research thread around it concerns whether CRP itself drives cardiovascular risk or merely marks it, and how it compares with other measures of inflammatory and mortality risk.
